Launched in 2021, the XRP Ledger (XRPL)
is an open-source, permissionless, and decentralized blockchain protocol. XRP has several benefits over its rival blockchain competitors as XRP has been proven to be one of the fastest and cheapest cryptos to transact with.
Transactions can be as low as 0.000001 XRP which is less than a fraction of 1p/1c. Apart from being fast and cheap, the technology is eco-friendly without the use of Proof-of-Work algorithms. XRP was the first decentralized exchange (DEX) to enable custom tokenization capabilities that were built into the protocol.
Since 2012, the XRP Ledger has been operating reliably, having closed 70 million ledger wallets in circulation with positive balances.
